What is TPI? (Titleist Performance Institute)

The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Since 2003 TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional Tour players to weekend enthusiasts.  An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitation in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.

TPI has one of the best philosophies I know and how it is.

“TPI does not believe in one way to swing a club, rather in an infinite number of swing styles.  But, we do believe there is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do.”

In other words, we do not compare your swing to Roy McRoy’s swing, because your body might not be able to get in the position that he is able to get his body into because you may have some physical limitations that he doesn’t have.  If you physically can’t get into the position, then why would we tell you to do so?

The TPI movement screen breaks the golf swing down in to 15 different individual movements that will find those limitations that you may not know of.  With the movement screen and connecting it to your golf swing, then we can tailor your treatment with manual therapy and exercises to help you resolve those limitations and help you improve your swing and reduce risk of injury.  In doing so you will be able to play longer because 1) you will be pain free and 2) you will enjoy it more.

TPI further has teams around golfers to help improve their game. Their TPI consists of a Golf coach, Medical practitioner, Fitness/Personal trainer, Junior coach and power coach.

As Dr. Wadsworth is TPI certified, he runs each golfer (if they desire) through the TPI movement screen and analyzes their swing to help they reach their goal.  As a Medical Practitioner he focuses on reduced pain and risk of injury while you are golfing.

So if you like to golf and want to golf for a long time come on down and we will go through the TPI evaluation with you.
