Move Better, Feel Better, Perform Better
No question is a bad question. Education is a major part of your growth, this is why we do our best to answer all your questions to the best of our capabilities. Here are a couple frequent questions that have been asked before.
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine mostly concerned with the diagnosis and conservative treatment of the musculoskeletal system, focused more on the spine but can also help with upper and lower extremity musculoskeletal diagnosis. Chiropractic Physicians are licensed by the state and are qualified to examine, diagnose, and treat a wide variety of conditions. To be sure that you will receive the best care you need, Dr. Wadsworth works closely with a wide variety of other healthcare providers and will not hesitate to refer you to another provider if he believe you will have better result from another healthcare provider.
From birth your joints and muscle are all structured in a way that make you efficient when you move. As an infant you start to develop the movement patterns the way they were structured to do so. As we get older and start to have a more sedentary life we start to lose those movement patterns and sometimes a muscle will start to move in a fashion that is unconventional. Repeated dysfunctional movement patterns will speed up the wear and tear on the body and cause those sudden and unpredicted injuries. Finding the dysfunctional movement patterns and correcting the pattern through manual therapy and therapeutic exercise can help prevent the injuries from occurring.
Yes. Currently Dr. Wadsworth can bill health insurance listed below.
If you insurance is not on this list, you can still use your health insurance. If you want to use your private health insurance you can use those “Out of Network” benefits that you have. When you come to the clinic for an exam or treatment we will have you pay the cost for the visit and give you a “Superbill” in return with the proper information on it and then you submit it to your private insurance carrier for reimbursement. The reimbursement that you will receive from your insurance will depend on the health insurance plan you have through your carrier and how much coverage you have.
How much treatment you will need all depends on what your goal is by coming to see us. There are 3 primary goals for why someone comes to see us.
They are:
1) Find temporary pain relief.
2) Understand the cause of pain and correct the cause.
3) Wants to be proactive about their health with Improved performance and wellness care.
Each one will vary in duration of care and treatment. All with an increase number of treatment frequency, respectfully. We can find temporary pain relief in a short number of visits (2-4 visits), but it most likely not correct the cause and will come back in a number of months. Understanding the cause of pain and correcting it does take some time and that time varies depending on the condition and how it is presenting. Research has shown that chronic low back pain can be significantly reduced with based chiropractic and corrective exercise treatment plan of 2-3x/week for 6 weeks. The difference between goal 1 and 2 is a big difference when someone may say that chiropractic works and doesn’t work. You may get treated under a short treatment plan and be pain free, but when it comes back weeks or months later you may think that chiropractic treatment doesn’t work. The reality may be that they didn’t complete full treatment plan that research has shown to help significantly.
The 3rd goal is preventative care and performance care. This is care that is rendered even when there is no symptoms presented. This, making sure that all underlying causes do not show up before symptoms do. Maintains care has been research and has shown to reduce the frequency of symptoms significantly.
So again, how much treatment you will need all depends on what your goals are. Our goal is to have a successful relationship with you and help you reach your goals, whatever that looks like. So, what goal above best describes you?
“TPI is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.
Since its inceptions on 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional Tour players to weekend enthusiasts. An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a players body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.” (TPI webpage http://www.mytpi.com/about)

Yes, here is why. The popping sound comes from the joints in your spine. What an adjustment does is it frees up the joints that are limited in their range of motion and in doing so the quick motion releases some gas and causes a popping sound. This issue with this is when you doing it yourself you are more likely get a joint to adjust that doesn’t need to get adjusted and it’s usually next to or close to the joint that is the primary cause of discomfort. You will know that this is the cause because after you adjust your own spine you will feel like you have to do it again shortly after or later that day. If you are finding yourself adjusting your own spine more than once a day, you are doing it too much and you aren’t adjusting the joints that need to be adjusted.
How long an adjustment will last really depends on two things. 1) how long have you needed the adjustment and 2) what you do the next couple of days to weeks after the adjustment. If you have had dysfunctional movement patterns or pain in your spine form an extended period of time, you must remember that it took you along time to get to this point and may take a long time to correct. The longer to wait for the adjustment the least time the adjustment will last and the more treatment you will need to correct it. The shorter time you wait for the adjustment the longer the adjustment will last and fewer treatments you will need. The next part(2), what you have been doing on your daily activities led you to this dysfunction and discomfort. In return, if you get treated and go right back to your old habits you will likely be back soon to seek treatment again. So to combate that, we will look at your movement patterns and give you corrective exercises to do at home that will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the treatment while you are away.
Ribs often cause pain when they lose their mobility or decreased range of motion, commonly known as “going out”. What leads up to this is, what you are doing throughout your day. The most common cause is your sitting or standing posture. Often times when you are sitting at work, school or similar, you are sitting and focused at the duties at hand and forget about yourself. In doing so our posture starts to slump or slouch forward and for an extended period of time. When we sit in this position for a long time (>20-30 minutes) our joints and soft tissues will adapt to the position and often times ribs will get stuck and you will feel pain or discomfort when you stand up. To change this, read our article “What you should do it you sit all day” and do the following exercises as instructed.
