Longevity for Golf
Once you catch the golf bug then you want to be able to play this well into retirement for multiple reasons. This is one you can play into your old age, it’s competitive, you’ll be able to play with your spouse, kids, grandkids and friends for as long as your body will let you. But those are the key words, “as long as your body will let you”. Golf can be hard on your body if you don’t take care of it properly.
Paul is a 50 year old business owner and he enjoys playing a couple rounds of golf a week. Outside or even in a trackman golf simulator. He’s looking to play this game well in retirement. The one concern that he has is, will his body break down and inhibit him from playing.
He seeks help from our team to help him in the future. With a proper assessment, we found that he has less optimal pelvis control and limited hip rotation. These are key aspects of the golf swing. Over time if these are not addressed.they can cause improver wear and tear in their lower back and can lead to lower back pain.
With proper motor control exercises for the pelvis and mobility exercises for the hip, this can be addressed. Paul was sent home with some deer in the headlights glute exercises and the hip flexor stretch and 90/90 hip stretch. Over the first month he came back and reported feeling great as he played golf 3 days in a row.
Now we continue on to reassess and check in to see where the body is and address anything issue that comes up accordingly.
